What My Dad Taught Me Without Saying a Word.
The Obsession | Edition - 028
Welcome to The Obsession, glad you're here.
Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads out there. I'm not a father myself, but I hope to be one day.
My dad is one of the greatest people I know. And looking back, he taught me more by example than he ever put into words.
I grew up playing golf, the greatest game ever, and my dad was my coach. As I played and learned to balance the bittersweet relationship that every golfer has with the game, he was teaching me things that had nothing to do with my swing. How to be honest. How to keep my emotions in check. How to quietly compete.
Those are life skills that extend far past the golf course.
He set an example of what hard work looked like through early mornings taking care of the house, longer days at work, and sending me to caddy at 15. He didn't talk about discipline. He just lived it.
He's also an amazing friend. Growing up, we were always around other families. Watching his friendships over the years influenced mine more than I realized at the time. It naturally pushed me to be around people who made me better.
My dad is one of the greatest people I know, and I am so blessed to have a father who has taught me more than he will ever know.
Love you, Dad.
I think the best lessons from our fathers are the ones they never sat us down to teach. They just showed us. And we didn't realize we were learning until years later.
What is something your dad taught you without ever saying a word?

2) One Idea That Shifted Me
The best lessons aren't the ones someone sits you down to teach. They're the ones you pick up by watching how they live.
3) One Challenge to Take Into Your Week
Tell your dad (or someone who played that role for you) one thing they taught you that they probably don't know they taught you. Don't wait for a reason. Just say it.
