Let’s face it. Most of you probably use AI to basically Google things and make your emails sound more professional.
Although this is a great use, it’s also just the surface of what’s possible.
Here’s what I think about AI.
Like Michael Scott said, “People will never go out of business.”
I work with a lot of financial professionals. Many of them are scared that AI will take away part of their value to clients. I disagree. Because at the end of the day, people want to work with people.
I hate talking to an AI bot when I want to order food, deal with a bank account issue, set up insurance, get a doctor’s appointment, handle an airline problem, or get my car fixed. When something important is going on, I want to talk to another person. I want to feel heard and helped.
I think most people feel the same way.
In the financial industry, when you’re dealing with people’s money, they want so much more than a service. They want a relationship. They are entrusting you with their hard-earned money. That trust isn’t built by a chatbot. It’s built by showing up, listening, and caring about the person on the other side of the table.
That’s the part that AI can’t replace. And honestly, that’s the part that matters most.
So what is AI good for? Giving you more time to be that person.
AI can handle the prep work, the research, the repetitive tasks that eat up your day. The stuff that keeps you from the conversations, the strategy, and the relationship building that actually moves the needle.
The way I see it, AI doesn’t replace the people part of business. It gives you more capacity for it. And if you use it that way, you’re going to be better at your job, not worse.
There are always going to be jobs for people who are willing to learn, be coachable, and work hard. That hasn’t changed. But if you’re not leveraging AI in any fashion right now, you’re already behind.
Not because AI is going to take your job. But because someone else is using it to free up their time for the things that matter. And the things that matter will always come back to people.
What’s one thing AI could take off your plate so you can spend more time on the people part of your work?
